~ Under Promise and Over Deliver….
Not a phrase just for business.
School breaks, even weekends, are a time when it can be tempting to overbook yourself- saying yes to play dates, events, activities, etc.
My suggestion…..Stop that. No, really, stop that. Schedule what you need to- like childcare, of course- and allow the rest to happen on its own. Spontaneously. A lot of our lives are already scheduled and organized to that max, especially for kids- give yourself and them a little break. Sometimes it is nice to “just be” home. To have family time and see where it leads. To roll with a play date if it is presented and happens to work out.
Another idea: During your free time, let your kid(s) choose what activity the family should do.
Not only can this relieve the stress and expectations of planning every minute of a break, but it gives an opportunity to learn about each other and have fun as a family. It is amazing how fast our little ones grow up- they get busy doing their own thing, you get busy doing your thing.
With that being said- Make sure to give yourself some Momma Time.
“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” – Robert Brault Do your best.
Do what you can. Take time for you. Rest. Be Present.
